La Vie En Rose

“Fleeting, ephemeral hours,
Effervesce like bubbles in a stream,
Dissipating in the ether,
Leaving naught but a transient gleam.”

The fairy tale aspect of haute couture often leads to a “once upon a time...” collections, and such is the case at the ateliers of Dolly J this season. An ode to classic dressing that’s transient across time with contemporary workmanship, this year’s couture presentation explores the idea of beauty and its luminous and eternal quality across time. This is not a time-travelling collection but an escapist one , where beauty prevails and time comes to a standstill. 

From intricate painstaking lavish embroideries to flirtatious lines imitating the beauty of flowers, this presentation helps transport the viewer into a world where time has been held in that ultimate moment where beauty prevails and is an opportunity of re-invention.

Coveted for their signature shimmering fabrics, this year too, an array of textiles that embody the theme have been curated to craft each silhouette. Iridescent tissues, shimmering tulle, diaphanous chiffons and silk organzas accentuated with delicate laces have been used to create the garments. 

There is an inherent lightness to the treatment of each silhouette. Balancing this femininity, elements of structured details in the art of corsetry have been used across the collection, embodying the marriage of vulnerability and strength. 

“La Vie En Rose” inhabits a moment frozen in time, bathed in beauty and fantasy, where opulence and grandeur reigns supreme.
